In order to get the acceleration software, connect to the Internet via your Double Click It! dial up connection and open your favorite browser. In the address bar type the following address:

http://signup.dblclickit.com/download/setup.exe

Once you click the 'Go' button or hit enter, you will be presented with a File Download window that asks you whether you would like to open the file or save it to your computer. Click the 'Save' button, and in the Save In window, select your Desktop and click the Save button. The file is 1.97MB, which may take up to 30 minutes to download, depending on the speed of your computer's modem. Once the file is downloaded, verify that a setup.exe icon appears on your desktop.

Once the upgraded acceleration software is downloaded to your computer, you are ready to begin the simple software installation process. To begin:

• Double Click the setup.exe icon on your desktop
• Ensure that all other applications are closed and click the 'OK' button.
• Click 'Next' at the Welcome screen.
• Click 'Accept' to accept the software license.
• On the Installation Options screen, we recommend that you accept the default settings and click 'Next' to continue.
• The file copying and installation process will now begin. When it is completed, you may be prompted to restart your computer. Click the 'Ok' button to reboot if necessary.
• If you do NOT use Internet Explorer as your web browser, read the following information on setting your desired web browser's proxy settings. If you use Internet Explorer, skip to the 'Connecting for the First Time' section.
• For users of Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, etc., you will need to configure a proxy setting within your browser's preferences. Generally, these settings are typically located under a Preferences or Settings menu, and you should be able to locate a place to enter a proxy address and port for HTTP. Enter localhost as the HTTP proxy address and 8080 for the HTTP proxy port. Save these settings and restart your browser.
  

On the first tab of the Internet Accelerator Options screen, graphics acceleration options can be adjusted. High acceleration is the default option, which reduces image quality slightly. By adjusting the slider, you can control your acceleration speed and image quality settings. If you are browsing a web page with your image quality turned down, and you would like to see a particular image with full quality, simply right-click on the particular image, and you will have options to refresh the image or the entire page with full image quality.

The Graphics and Ads tab also allows for the Ad Blocking system to be turned on by toggling the check box at the bottom.

The Pop-up Windows tab specifies whether or not Pop-Up Blocking is enabled on your PC. By selecting Block Pop-up Windows, the Acceleration system will engage an extremely effective pop-up blocking system within Internet Explorer (Note: Pop-up Blocking is not available in non-Internet Explorer browsers). You can further customize what happens when a pop-up window is blocked from being displayed, and you can allow particular pop-ups to be displayed in a list at the bottom of the tab.

The Temporary Files tab allows you to adjust the level of caching that is employed on your computer. The accelerator stores temporary files on your computer's hard drive, and these files are used to further enhance your acceleration speeds. The Delete Files... button allows you to remove all files cached by the Acceleration system.

The Advanced tab offers options regarding performance summaries and the automatic launching of the Acceleration system. These settings do not often need to be adjusted.

You can also obtain performance metrics by right-clicking the System Tray icon and selecting 'Performance Meter'. This will show you statistics detailing your exact levels of acceleration performance.
